Left Nuttbush Retreat at ¼ to 8 this morning as we needed to do some
bits & pieces in Port Augusta as well as shopping before heading north to
Rawnsley Park Station for a few days. The station which is approx. 20kms south
of Wilpena is a working sheep station that is also a Top Tourist caravan park,
it is a bush camping site that is very quiet and has a lovely pool. Our first
stop after Port Augusta was Quorn where we met up with Maree & Paul again and
had morning tea. Checked out the TI to
see if we could do the Pichi Richi Railway trip on Saturday that goes from
Quorn back to Port Augusta, and was really disappointed that the trip this
Saturday doesn’t use the Steam Engine, so we have now decided not to do the
trip this time around. Quorn looks like a very interesting town and we may call
in on the way back. There appears to be a lot to do around the town with a very
colourful history. On the way up to our camp there were lots of ruins and
lookouts that we plan on looking at over the next few days, so much to see and
the Flinders Ranges is full of places to explore. After setting up the caravan we went over to
the swimming pool for a nice cool dip, great pool except for a few bees or
wasps, not sure which, but they were definitely attracted to the water. It is a
very pleasant balmy evening, not much of a sunset but warm and a very pleasant
breeze instead of a howling wind. No
phone or internet here so this entry for the Blog is being typed and added at a
later date. It feels a bit surreal that we are un-contactable at the moment.
