Tuesday 24th Feb 2015 - Marion Bay
Today is an easy touring day to our next stop, approx 140kms total. Along the way we visited Stansbury where we bought some Flathead, Butterfish and Marinara Mix to make a nice seafood curry. (Still BLOODY windy.....ahhhh.) Stansbury was quite a cute little town with a lot of murals all over the buildings. Took a photo of the best one on the corner store but there were others along the foreshore on buildings. Coobowie was a little town we passed through on our way to Edithburgh where we plan to have our MT stop. Apparently the early explorers found Coobowie and the tidal inlet so attractive that they started dreaming of a big city there. Then when they couldn't find any fresh water they felt cheated and grumpily named the beautiful spot Deception Bay. But today it is known as Coobowie and unfortunately, we didn't find it very pretty at all..After MT and now off to Yorketown and on towards Marion Bay through Warooka, we will stay at Marion Bay for a couple of days exploring and have a look at Warooka on our way back up the Yorke Peninsula. This afternoon we headed of exploring after we set up the caravans. Dirt roads to Meehan Hill Lookout then further on to Kangaroo Island Lookout before having a quick look at Foul Bay. The scenery, views from these lookouts is nothing short of spectacular and the photos do not do the outlook justice at all. Tonight we cooked in the camp kitchen and the wind is still blowing.....ahhhh. Hopefully tomorrow will be better as we plan on exploring the Innes National Park right at the tip of The Yorke Peninsula.
