Tuesday 3rd February 2015 Anglesea – Port Campbell.

Barry & I started this morning with a 30 minute walk along the walking track and then back into Anglesea, I managed to take a few nice photos along the way. No sun once again this morning but very pleasant walking. I am back into walking now that my feet appear to be better.  Tried out the runners I bought in Port Macquarie at The Foot Locker and all good. Driving along the Great Ocean Road at the moment and just passed the Pole House. I think it would be awesome to stay there and be perched way up above the scenery, you would feel just like a bird…I love, love, love this road.  We were planning on stopping at the Gateway to the Great Ocean Road but there were a couple of buses there and far too many tourists to even get close, maybe next time. Morning tea was in a little pull off area right near the Cumberland River, there was a plaque but so much writing on it that you couldn’t read it properly.  It is so disappointing to see that there are so many PIGS that travel along this road, rubbish all over the place and no bins, such a shame because it all ends up in the Ocean. Now on towards ApolloBay where we had a walk around the shops then lunch beside the caravan overlooking the golf course as well as the Ocean.  Beautiful spot.  Driving on towards Port Campbell and the scenery has changed dramatically.  Dense rain forest and ferns lining the road which is quite windy and very steep. On the road down to Cape Otway there were so many dead trees that it looked like something had killed them all, made for some interesting photos before we went down to Cape Otway to have a look at the Lighthouse. I don’t consider myself a “tight arse” BUT $19.50 each to get thru the gate to walk down to the lighthouse is nothing short of a rip off, so we walked along a track towards where the Cemetery was located and took pictures of the Lighthouse from a ways off.  Unfortunately we didn’t reach the cemetery but judging by the photos on the link it would have been terrific to see.. We are now in the Port Campbell Caravan Park with our sites backing onto the river that runs into the ocean at high tide, pleasant spot and staying for 2 nights so we can do the tourist bit tomorrow without the caravans attached.  Loch Ard Gorge, the 12 Apostles, London Bridge and whatever else we can find.
