Today we are doing the real tourist bit…Got a brochure from the TI and
are doing the “12 Apostles Gourmet Trail” with a little of our own sightseeing
thrown in. We were hoping for a little
better weather for our day out as it is a bit drizzly at the moment and there
is no sun. Still it is not cold and we are adventurers looking to see the
sights. First stop will be Loch Ard Gorge and the Cemetery. What a fascinating story, it must have been
terrifying to be shipwrecked on this very rugged coast. Then onto the 12
Apostles where I managed to go snap happy taking far too many pictures.(see below) The scenery is stunning and I just can’t help
myself. Now heading down to Princetown
for lunch beside the Gellibrand River, the weather has started to improve and
there is now sunshine, still windy but pleasant. We have now headed onto the “12
Apostles Gourmet Trail” and our first stop is G.O.R.G.E. Chocolates, yummy…..
managed to buy up a few packets after testing a couple. Very pleased that Barry doesn’t like
chocolates as much as me so there will be more for me, that's the plan at least. Our next stop on this
trail is Apostle Whey Cheese. We didn’t
think we would buy anything here as we have lots of cheese in the fridge but
the Blue Cheese was very, very nice so had to get some of that as well as the
marinated Fetta in Chilli & Garlic. Unfortunately Newtons Ridge Winery was
closed so it was onto Timboon where we went to the Timboon Railway Shed Distillery to sample whiskey and Ice-Cream. Bought some Whiskey, Chocolate
Cream Liquor, Coffee Cream Liquor and had a vanilla ice-cream in a cone. Really enjoying this little journey, food,
alcohol and ice-cream, doesn’t get too much better than that. We are now on our
way back to the Port Campbell Caravan Park thru Curdie Vale. Curdie Vale was a little town that Mum &
I went thru 40 years ago and it hasn’t changed a bit. Only the Boggie Creek Pub and nothing else
there.
